A Presentation, a Survey and Picture Description

Week 28th January

Why did only Dani do homework?

Anyway, after all the talking about sports you should be able to improvise a presentation.
Not too bad, but I expected more on your side! Come on, make a little effort!

Marcos was missing. A little bird told me you were studying for an exam. Well, good luck! I hope to see you next week.

After presenting the sport, we listened to the song “We are the Champions” and you had to fill in the gaps in the lyrics.

We also conducted a survey in the class.

·         What’s your name?
·         How old are you?
·         What year are you in?
·         What’s your favourite sport to practise?
·         When did you start?
·         How often do you practise it?
·         What’s your favourite sport to watch?
And we made questions and answers about a set of pictures. We practised present simple and present continuous.

Some of the questions you asked were witty (clever, intelligent, smart) and tricky (you tried to confuse your opponents)

·           In this picture there’s a woman, what’s she doing? She’s walking.
·           In this picture there’s a man, what does he do (what’s his job)? He’s a cook.
·           In this picture you can see a park, how many trees are there? There are three trees.
·           In this picture there’s a man, which room is he in? He’s in the kitchen.

If you want to remember how to use present continuous, you can practise it with

Go, Play, Do - Throw, Kick, Hit!

Week 21st  January

Hi Dani, welcome back! We missed you!

You started the class with a nice scientific experiment! Did you enjoy it?

This week we continued talking about sports.
Depending on the sport we use the verbs, Go, Do or Play.

GO
PLAY
DO
windsurfing
rugby
karate
climbing
ice hockey
aerobics
scuba diving
table tennis
gymnastics
swimming
badminton
judo
cycling
squash
yoga

Yes, we got the right rule all together!

We use Go + ing, except fencing and boxing. We don’t go fencing or go boxing

How do you get the name of the person who practises the sport? What’s the name of the sport?
 Look at this chart:

  • In some sports you hit the ball.
What do you hit the ball with? A bat, a stick, a club, your hand?
  • In other sports you kick the ball (you use your feet). Can you think of  any examples?
  • In other sports you throw the ball, as in handball.

We have learnt a lot about sports.

Name the places, equipment and clothes you use for the sports below:
Playing golf- skiing – ice hockey- aerobics- basketball- tennis- football- diving – boxing

Don’t forget to do homework!
For two reasons: it’ll help you to remember what we studied and also you’ll get 2 points for the Games!!

For homework you are going to tell the class about a sport. It could be your favourite or not. You can’t talk about football; choose a different one, Please!!

Write a little composition on a piece of paper, saying how you play the game, number of teams, place, equipment and clothes. Don’t forget to draw a picture or stick a photo.

Equipment to Use in Different Sports.

Hi! Did you have a good week?

We went on (continue) talking about sports.
I can’t believe you have forgotten how to spell “skiing”!

Can you answer these questions:

What do you use to play badminton?
What do you use to play hockey?
What do you use to play golf?
What do you use to play football?
What do you use to pay table tennis?

And these ones?

What’s the cyclist wearing?
What’s the swimmer wearing?
What’s the hockey player wearing?
What's the horse - rider wearing?

This is your homework:

Choose a sport, (boxing, water polo, volleyball, squash etc.),  any sport you want and find information about it.

  • How many teams are there?
  • How many players are there in each team?
  • What equipment (ball, puck, bat, racquet, net, skates etc.) do you need?
  • What do you have to wear( clothes, helmet, hat…) ?
  • Where do you play the sport (in the gym, in a field, pitch, court etc.)?

Remember: you´ll get two extra points for doing homework!!!!!

We started our Games competition for this term. We changed players’ numbers because Dani was missing. But I got good news for you. He’s coming again!
