Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! See you in 2014!

Tuesday 17th

So, this was our last day of class for this year!

We celebrated it by seeing the different shows our school friends performed for us in the academy. They were very good.

And you were awesome, fantastic, great ! Well done to all of you! You have worked very hard! And also has Paula, who didn’t come to class the previous week and took place in the show.
Just one thing, Paula. How do you pronounce “furniture”?

Do you know what New Year Resolutions are? They are promises we make for the New Year.

What about this?

Our New Year Resolutions are going to be: work harder and behave better in class. Dani, do you agree? Don’t forget you have to keep this promise.

Congratulations to our Games winners!!
First place: Amara
Second place: Daniel

Sergio, what happened to you? We haven’t seen you for two weeks!

And I also want to wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
To you and your families.

And finally I would like to go through (to review) everything you have learnt with us this term.

Hello! How’s everybody today?

You were very excited. I guess it’s because Christmas holidays are coming. You were also very nervous, and I know that’s because you have lots of exams before the holidays.

Study hard and good luck to everybody.

To help you to relax we wrote and acted a play. Very well done to all of you. You learnt your lines but keep practising because we’re going to act it out on Tuesday!!!!

Daisy’s Christmas

SANTA CLAUS/GRANDPA : It’s Christmas Day. The family is together.

PETER:  (running around and looking under the furniture) Where are the presents? Where’s Father Christmas coming?
SANTA CLAUS/GRANDPA : Peter, come here. I’m going to tell you a story.
PETER: yes, yes, a story.
SANTA CLAUS/GRANDPA : Once upon a time… there was a girl called Daisy.

DAISY: (Daisy talks while she’s walking)  My name’s Daisy. I help my parents in the fields. Now, I’m going back home. Oh! What’s this? (She bends and picks something from the ground). It’s a lot of money! For my presents!
(Daisy runs home)
Daddy, daddy look at this!
DAISY’S FATHER: what is that? It’s a lot of money! Now we can buy presents for the family.

(At the same time, Mr Evans is walking along the street. He’s going to the shop to do his Christmas shopping)

Mr EVANS: I’m Mr Evans. I’m going to the shop to buy presents for my family. (He puts his hands into his pockets, looking for something).

Oh, where’s my money? I’ve lost it! The children are going to be very sad.
(He walks home feeling very sad).

(At Daisy’s house, her father is talking to her)
DAISY’S FATHER: Your mother told me that the money is Mr Evans’ so, you have to give it back to him.
DAISY: Oh no! We can’t buy presents.
DAISY’S FATHER: It’s not our money. Take it back to Mr Evans.

(Daisy goes to Mr Evans’ home. She knocks on the door. Mr Evans opens the door)

DAISY: Hello Mr Evans. I found this in the street.
Mr EVANS: Oh thanks. It’s my wallet. Now I can buy presents. Here you are. This is for you.
DAISY: thank you very much.

(Peter asks grandpa)
PETER: and what happened?
SANTA CLAUS/GRANDPA: then Daisy went home and gave the money to her family.
PETER: Did Daisy buy her presents? Did Father Christmas leave presents to Daisy?
SANTA CLAUS/GRANDPA : yes, a lot. Because she did a good thing.

All the kids say and sing “We wish you a Merry Christmas.”

I went to Guam!

Tuesday 3rd December

Hello kids!

In our class today we learnt that Americans use the expression “On vacation” while the British use, “On holiday”

We practised the past.

Where did you go? I went to Guam.
When did you arrive? We arrived on Tuesday.

For homework, make the questions for these answers:

·         I rented a car.
·         I studied lots of maps.
·         I visited Tarzan Falls.
·         I went windsurfing and I took photos.
·         I ate in restaurants.
·         I bought souvenirs.

We did a listening exercise. You were very good at it.

We made up ( =invented) dialogues about holidays.

And finally, we played a board game:”An adventure Journey”

There were ability questions and also possessions.
·         Can you jump? Can you dive? Can you fly a plane?
·         Have you got a lighter? Have you got a torch? Have you got a rope?

The winner was the person who could do more things and have more objects! But also, the luckiest!!!!

Player 6, why do you talk so much Spanish and so little English in class?
And please, stop teasing your classmates. You are very good at English but you are always playing in class!!!

Our Game was based on the listening activity and on a questions dictation.. Here’s the score:
